In Italia mi chiamano "l'australiano", in Australia "l'italiano". All'inizio mi dava fastidio; adesso mi fa ridere.

Grammar: Sono nato, sono nata: the past with essere
Nascere (to be born) forms its past with essere, so the ending agrees with the person: sono nato (boy), sono nata (girl), siamo nati (we).
Mi piace + one thing or a verb; mi piacciono + more than one thing.
| io (boy) · io (girl) | sono nato · sono nata |
| lui · lei | è nato · è nata |
| noi | siamo nati · siamo nate |
| mi piace | il disegno, disegnare |
| mi piacciono | il disegno e la musica |
Mia madre è nata a Lecce. My mother was born in Lecce.
Mi piacciono i film italiani. I like Italian films.
